I was given a beautiful glass jar of the G&T Farm honey Chuck helped to harvest this fall. I put it up against a jar of kosher honey and one of wildflower honey from the Savannah Bee Company (courtesy of Jamie Deen–one of the perks of supporting his latest cookbook in the wake of his mother’s melt-down).

The G&T Farm Honey was the best, hands down. The very definition of sweetness. The others have an edge and an aftertaste that I don’t like. This one is bright and smooth. I don’t know if it’s the variety of grasses the cows eat (timothy and clover, for two) or the hives’ location among the old apple trees. Whatever the source, the color says it all: pure gold.
